Objective
The task was to procure a SOC-as-a-service to strengthen the company's security infrastructure.
Challenges
It quickly became apparent that the existing department's capacity was insufficient to specify the necessary security services of an SOC-as-a-service. We developed a suitable procurement strategy based on constructive collaboration with potential providers, aligning with the procuring department's current knowledge level. To implement this, we planned several solution workshops to develop the solution jointly with the providers.
Execution
The procurement involved all relevant stakeholders, including the existing security organization, IT operations, architecture, legal department, and procurement. Trainings were conducted for all internal participants to ensure a targeted approach in dealing with vendors. To make an informed decision, we chose a two-stage process with RFI and RFS. In the solution workshops, the solution was developed and agreed upon with the vendors. After the solution freeze, bids were submitted. Clear evaluation criteria were established for bid assessment, and walkthrough sessions were organized to clarify all technical and professional questions.
Outcome
The project successfully procured a SOC-as-a-service. This service will contribute to ensuring the security of the IT infrastructure and support the company in maintaining its leading position in the European market.
